CHRISTMAS SERIES: Guest post of Jess from polishedjess (USA)

Hello there!

Polished Jess here, of and!
The lovely and super sweet Sabrina has asked me to guest post today to share a festive mani as well as some Christmas traditions my family takes part in.

December is a month of celebration for my family, as many of us celebrate our birthdays during December. I myself celebrate my birthday on December 20th. The year I was born, my mother got to bring me home from the hospital on Christmas Eve. She watched the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” with me that evening, and to this day tells me that I was her best Christmas gift ever. My mom is pretty much the best mom ever!

On to some of our traditions!

We always put our Christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving (an American holiday filled with family time, lots of food, football, and naps!).
We do not take our tree down until New Year’s Day, as it is said to be bad luck. Now, I am not a superstitious person, but tradition is tradition!

Another Christmas tradition I thoroughly enjoy is the pickle ornament! I know what you are thinking, but no, we do not hang a real pickle in our tree! We have a pickle ornament fashioned out of wood, that my mother would hide in the tree early on Christmas morning. The first sibling to find it before opening gifts that morning, received one small extra gift as a reward. I can remember how much fun it was to race around the tree scanning it from top to bottom in an attempt to be the first to spot the elusive pickle! And the “pickle gift” was always the most coveted! A small, but special treat like a giant Hershey Kiss, Candy Buttons, or chocolate truffles shaped like Santa.

Family meals are also a very big part of our Christmas celebration. On Christmas morning, we head to my Grandparents’ house for lunch. Then, we have dinner at my in-laws’ house. Of course, after so much good food, a nap is required! Can you tell I like to nap?

The last Christmas tradition I would like to share is ornament collecting! Each year, my mother has bought or made a perfect ornament for us kids and now our spouses as well! I carry on this tradition by finding the perfect ornament for my husband and our crazy cat each year. My husband’s family never collected ornaments, so my mother and I started his collection and have been adding to it since he and I first started dating over ten years ago. Time sure flies!

Although this is not related to tradition, I wanted to share one final thing before showing you the mani I created. One of my favorite things about December is the weather! I am fortunate enough to live in a beautiful state that experiences a truly gorgeous winter filled with snow and ice! I always love looking out the window when it is snowing because it makes me feel like I live in a giant snow globe! That being said, I chose to create a frosty water marble skittle mani that reminds me of the sparkle of freshly fallen snow and glistening icicles.

On my index and middle finger I have a simple water marble design using “Blue Funk” by Studio M and “Jaded” by Sephora. I topped this with “Fairy Dust” by China Glaze and sealed it all in with Gem Glam Top Coat by Dream Polish.

On my ring and pinky finger, I have “Sapphire Stanza” by Love Angeline. I also topped these two with Gem Glam Top Coat by Dream Polish.

I hope you have enjoyed my rambling and my mani!
